Prototype C Mod Review

The Most Spectacular Sports Cars have returned to your Computer.

1992 The last year of the World Sports Car Championship The end of the Group C Prototypes. Closed Prototypes with driving performances that only Can-Am and Formula 1 reached.

Now, 12 years later the Team of Virtua_LM attempts to recreate this extreme era of Sports Car Racing in all its glory. 17 great Race Tracks from all around the world, including the famous Le Mans Circuit are the battlefield for the epic fights between Peugeot, Toyota, Mercedes, Jaguar and many others. 31 included cars guarantee a great mixture between the powerful cars and the unreliable exotics, like the Konrad-Lamborghini and the Brun-Judd.

The Interface & Launcher

Prototype C comes with a useful launcher program which helps you to create your Player details and configure the Mod the way you like it. The only thing I miss is an import option from other mods plr files, which can save a lot of time setting up your controller.

The in-game Interface itself is very clear, overlook able and not too hard on the eyes. The position of the submenus is build up as in the standard F1-Challenge Exe, so you should have no problem finding what youre looking for.

The Main Menu shows the car in the Spinner and on the left it will display some pretty informative things about the selected car. An identical screen will appear when you load a track, you will get a big Track Map, including Historical Information about all the Circuit.

The Cars

All cars are modelled to look identical to their real life variants, and they simply do, even the smallest air intakes and details are included. The Textures look simply great. The E-Mapping feature will provide an even more realistic look of the cars. The Cockpits are looking very realistic and provide a good insight of what it must be like to drive one of those cars for real. The sounds are what we can expect from such cars Loud and Screaming. A nice special feature that the Prototype C Mod contains is the fact that the car liveries and models will change throughout the season, for example a low-downforce version of a car for Le Mans and no tobacco liveries for the Jaguar at Silverstone and Hockenheim.

The Physics

The best thing about this mod are the Physics, they are simply amazing. Unfortunately I cant tell you if theyre realistic or not, since I didnt have the change to drive any of these cars in real life, but in my opinion the cars handle like I think they should do. They handle very powerful, have high downforce and have strong brakes. Each car has its own characteristics which makes it really enjoyable to drive each of them. Virtua_LM has set their mind to accuracy in physics so it will be much harder to win in the BRM then in for example the Peugeot Evo2. The Behaviour of the AI controlled cars is very good and competitive.

The Tracks

The mod contains 17 fabulous tracks, including the 1960s layout of the Rouen Circuit and the current version of the Japanese Fuji Track. Another interesting track is the special version of Monza, build to the 1993 configuration with a different radius in the two Lesmo corners.
Most other tracks have been rebuild to look like they did back in the time between 1991 and 1993, so this will give you the feeling of how it was to drive during that period of time.
