There's no way to convert it back to wav format from sfx, at least I don't have the tool and not aware of such. |

I don't want to put them back into Heat as wavs, just rework them as wavs then repack them as sfx so they can be put back into Heat. |

If memory serves me.......Soundforge is a program that can open and or convert the .sfx files to wave.
What most editors have done is start with all new wave files and just use knsfx to create the new files. It's a lot less hassle.

I have SoundForge 6 Pro but they are kept as project files SFP.
Heat saves them as RES files, may have to dig up the Restools for this one.
SFK is a Winrar storage format.
Will see what restools can do.
I have tried putting RDD's Engine 2 sounds into ISCH but the interior, windows and wheels all turn red when I do plus I want to clean up some looping (my specialty). |

Soundforge 5 will open the sfx files and allow you to manipulate them how you want, but if memory serves me right I think you still had to save them from Soundforge as wav files then convert with mksfx. |

My SF 6 doesn't show SFX files, PLUS my Restools that I had on my CD show as corrupted....did you ever get the feeling it was just not meant to be!
Oh well. |

Anybody know where to get MkSFX.exe? All of the links I had to it are no good now, and I've searched all over and can't find it.
Thanks for any help here.

Of course, I just found it - in part of a "package". I knew as soon as I'd ask for it on a forum, I would find it!

No, WinRAR won't open them and converted WAV's in SFX format are actually 2 bytes larger (Atleast from what I tried). The only problem is that you have to record the WAV in a certain format or the SFX file won't play correctly.
I tried to record some original music for the "song.sfx" file for the ui.res file, but the playback is distorted. I recorded in PCM format, 22,500 hz, 16 bit stereo, but that obviously isn't correct. I had the information on the correct recording format, but can't find it now.
I'm having a worse problem now, though. All of a sudden all my mods that I have are slightly jittery and the engine and spotter sounds are echoing. They worked OK at first, but I can't figure out what's wrong now. I read somewhere about Win XP being a cause of this somehow, but I can't pinpoint the problem!
Heat and XP are not very friendly together!

The source file before converting to .sfx needs to be 22050hz 16 bit mono.
